                                                    i.     Club Shirts: Courtney will be taking orders for Zoomdog T-shirts. It was decided that there will be two options: (1) royal blue, women’s cut athletic (synthetic) shirt or (2) royal blue, men’s cut cotton shirt. If at least 10-15 shirts (of either design) are purchased, the price will be about $20/shirt.  
                                                  ii.     Website: The current website is being paid for but not used. It is proposed that the current website be discontinued and replaced with Google Apps—which can be used as the website, document-storing site (like Dropbox), conversation/chatting/hangout site, Zoomdog email account, Zoomdog blog, and reciprocal links to Humane Society, 4 Paws, local dog businesses, etc. It will cost $50 max/year.
1.     Courtney is building a website for the club. It is not currently open to the public—she’s waiting on the Board members to log in and give feedback.
c.      Secretary:
                                                    i.     Change Membership Bylaws: In order to streamline membership, address members’ concern about the requirements and length of time it takes to become a member, and to prevent multiple revisions to the Membership section of the Club’s Bylaws, it is proposed that the bylaws be amended as written in the attached document.
                                                  ii.     Membership Dues: Many people have not paid their membership dues. Please do so tonight, because you have to pay full price for classes until your dues are paid. (Dues are $40 if you join between July 1 and December 31st and $20 if you join between January 1st and June 30th.)
d.     Treasurer: see “Financial State as of 7/31/2013” and “2013 Budget”

1.     Beginning Agility B (1 hour, 4 week) started Tues Aug 6th at 7:30 pm at the barn. Teacher: Rachel Flammer. Co-teacher: Jacqueline
2.     Advanced Agility (1 hour, 6 weeks) will start Mon Aug 26th at 6 pm at the barn. Teacher: Kristen. The price of this session (only) will be $59 for those who paid for 8 weeks but received only 6 weeks.
3.     Intermediate Agility (1 hour, 6 weeks) will start Mon Aug 26th at 7:10 at the barn. Teacher: Kristen.
4.     Weaves (1/2 hour, 4 week) will start Wed Sept 4th at 7:30 pm. Location to be determined. Room for 6-8 dogs. Teacher: Vicki
5.     Treibball (1/2 hour, 4 week) will start Wed Sept 4th at 7 pm. Location to be determined. Room for 6-8 dogs. Teacher: Jacqueline
6.     Rally (1 hour, 6 week) will start soon on Thursday nights at 7 pm. Teachers: Courtney and Maria. Location to be announced.
                                                  ii.     Prices:
1.     Kristen’s Intermediate and Advanced Agility 6-week-classes: $84 (member) or $105 (non-member)
2.     Classes taught by volunteers: Four-week classes = $50 (member), $60 (non-member), or $30 (4H members). Six-week classes = $75 (member) or $95 (non-member)
f.      Committee SignUp: The members present signed up the following committees. The members who were absent still need to sign up for a committee in order to fill their membership requirements.
                                                    i.     Activity/Fund Raising Committee: This committee plans parties/socials/fund raisers/mini-trials/public demonstrations, solicits sponsors/vendors, contributes information for website/blog, advertises events, etc.

                                                  ii.     Training Committee: This committee plans which classes will be taught (what, when, where), teaches/co-teaches the “volunteer” classes, approves volunteer teachers, oversees registration of classes, makes class rolls for teachers, contributes information for website/blog, repairs/buys/inventories equipment, etc.
1.     Chairperson: Vicki Rosen, as per Section 5.B.5.b of the club’s bylaws
2.     Committee Members: Rachel Van Wettere, Jacqueline Guymon, Maria Hansen, Scott Barber, Courtney Henry
                                                iii.     Membership Committee: This committee contacts people who have shown interest in joining the club, collects membership applications & communicates with the treasurer to ensure dues are received, records volunteer hours/events & sends quarterly reminders to those who are in jeopardy of losing membership, proposes changes to membership applications/benefits/bylaws to the Board, contributes information for website/blog, sends birthday cards to members, etc.

a.      Bylaw changes:  Voting could not take place as the required quorum of 2/3 of the members were not present.

                                                iii.     Electronic voting: The proposed amendment is attached. Please review it and come to the meeting next month, when it will be voted upon.
7.     Unfinished Business
a.       Vet Your Pet Night: We need to reschedule—only 2 students were available on the day we chose. More information to come at a later date.
b.     Sweat For a Pet. Maria’s emails have been unanswered.
8.     Adjournment: Next meeting will be held at the USU Vet Building on Thursday, Sept. 12th at 7 pm.
PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE CURRENT BYLAWS
please read these and vote on them at our next meeting—it takes 2/3 majority

SECTION 3:  Members
A.  Classes and Qualifications. This corporation shall have two classes of members, designated as general members and honorary members. Any person dedicated to the purposes of this corporation and who has submitted an application for membership and who has met the requirements of Section 3 F below and has paid such dues and fees as the Board may fix from time to time shall be eligible for general membership on approval of the membership application by the Board and the General Membership and the payment of such dues and fees as the Board may fix from time to time.
F.   Requirements for Membership
      1.   The Board shall establish requirements for membership to the club
      1.2 A candidate for membership shall apply for membership on a form approved by the Board of Directors, which shall provide that the candidate agrees to abide by these bylaws.  Accompanying the application, the candidate shall submit payment of membership fees and dues for the current year.
      2.   The applicant will have shown a commitment to participation in the club's activities by participating for the club's benefit at a minimum of two club activities (club meetings, club events, or club projects).
      3.   All applications are to be filed with the Secretary, and each application is to be screened by the Membership Committee. The Membership Committee will forward each application to the Board of Directors with its recommendation.
      4.   Each application shall be read at the first meeting of the general membership following its receipt, and may be submitted for a vote of the general membership at that meeting.
      5.   Affirmative votes of three fourths (3/4) of the general members present shall be required to elect the applicant.
      6.   Candidates whose applications have been rejected by the corporation may not reapply until six (6) months have passed since the rejection vote was taken.



Section 4: Meetings
E. Voting
6. Electronic Voting. When considering whether to amend the club’s bylaws, members in good standing may vote on the proposal in person at a general club meeting or by electronic means (email, electronic surveys, etc.); provided that the members attended the club meeting in which the amendment was proposed, and the members transmit their votes to the secretary prior to the general club meeting in which the amendment will be reviewed and voted upon. All votes, whether submitted electronically or in person, shall be treated equally. With the exception of amendments to the bylaws, all other voting must be conducted in person.



Amendment 1: Board members and committee members have the authority to authorize expenditures of amounts not greater than $110. Other expenditures require a majority vote of the members at any meeting.




Amendment 2: Ongoing expenses such as facilities, equipment, and professional services shall be presented to members for approval, as part of the budget process, by majority vote of those in attendance.

Come try agility!

Beginning Agility A and Beginning Agility B


Tuesdays 700 p.m.
Wellsville Barn
Trainer: Rachael Flammer
(4 weeks) $60 non-club members/$50 club members/$30 4-H members 


This course will focus on introducing you and your dog to agility.  Work will include learning the basics  of the sport, safely teaching your dog select pieces of equipment, and reinforcing basic commands.  This course is a great opportunity to wet your paws and see if agility is for you!
PrerequisiteNone for part A.  For Beginning Agility B, students must have taken Beginner Agility A or comparable classes.

 

Starting date is August 6!

Directions to the Barn for Classes



The address if 4725 West 3100 South in Wellsville. If you enter this address into your gps, you will end up on Hwy 89 :-(  Try using 3100 South 4800 West in Wellsville, and you will get close.

Directions:
1.            From Logan go south on US 89/91
2.            Past the American West Heritage Center take the last right turn before the light onto 400 N/4700 S
3.            At the Y (there is a stop sign just before the railroad tracks) turn right and continue west on 400 N
4.            Continue west until you get to Center St/UT 23 then turn right
5.            Follow UT 23 north for about 1.5 miles
6.            Turn right at 3700 South (you will actually be on 4800 West but you won’t see the sign from the highway)
7.            Continue north for about .6 miles, the barn will be right in front of you
If you miss the turn onto 3700 S/4800 W continue to 3400 S, turn right, go east to 4800 W, turn left and the barn will be right in front of you.
If you miss the turn at step 2 you can turn right at the light, follow the road east to Center Street/UT 23, turn right and pick up the directions at step 4.
Alternate route from North Cache Valley
1.            Get on to UT 23 South
2.            About 4 miles south of Mendon turn left at 3400 South.
3.            Turn left at 4800 W
4.            Continue for about .3 mile, the barn will be right in front of you
From South Cache Valley
1.            In Hyrum go west on UT 101 to US 89/-91
2.            At the light continue west to Center Street/ UT 23
3.            Turn right and continue north for about 2.1 miles
4.            Turn right at 3700 South (you will actually be on 4800 West but you won’t see the sign from the highway)
5.            Continue north for about .6 miles, the barn will be right in front of you
