Helping Aggressive Dogs Become Socialized
Stumbled upon this great article from The Whole Dog Journal entitled Teaching an Aggressive Dog How to Be Social Around Other Dogs.
I really enjoyed this article because it teaches that "aggressive dogs are most effectively trained without aversive techniques."

More Course Maps
Thought I would share a beginning Jumpers course and a more advanced agility course map.
Where will you be (hopefully) when your dog exists the tunnel? How about the transition from 8 to not (and NOT 15).
For me, the side transition on this course would be between 12 and 13. What about you?

More Fun in the Cold
Animal Planet had a great post about the Top 5 Winter Activities for You and Your Pet (I loved that Agility is one of those).

Winter Activities
It has been so cold, that it got me thinking about other activities we could do with our dogs in the winter (and get above this icky air). Here's a thought:

Exciting News
Exciting news everyone. We have a new "HOME" shall we say. We have negotiated a large barn/arena in Wellsville that will allow us to hold classes and potentially practice times, year round (and has heat and lights).
We are really excited to have a building with a floor (dirt) that is conducive to running and jumping the dogs (and for those interested in competing, very comparable to most of the arenas where competitions are held). This facility will allow us to work on speed and jump height and is much safer for the dogs and handlers.
We will be moving the equipment sometime this week (we will still hold class at the BATC West Campus tonight), and will hold our first class in the new facility on Monday, February 18. If anyone has access to a truck and is willing to help, please let Maria or Lee know as soon as possible.

Look at Those Weaves.
This is a video for the Crufts 2009 - Large Agility Winner. This dog is amazing and so fun to watch. I also enjoy watching the handler and how he cues his dog:

Course Maps
Thought is might be fun to also engage your brain a little bit by posting a couple of course maps for you to do some mental practice.
Where would you be standing when you start your dog? Which side of the A-frame would you be on when your dog entered the obstacle? Would you cross in front after obstacle 4 or 5?
This map is a starters course for Standard. How would you run this course? What would you do between obstacle 9 and 10? Hope you had fun with this. Be sure and let us know if you want additional course maps posted for some mental practice.
