Why Dogs Bark

So, a friend and I were talking the other day about her dog barking in the middle of the night.  Of course, I immediately thought of Brian Regan and his comedy piece about dogs barking.  While it's hardly ever funny when it's your dog doing the inappropriate behavior, sometimes it's good to just remember that a dog is a dog.

  1. He should do one about barking dogs while running an agility course :-( I wish I could say it was funny.

  2. You know, you should really try to make it to some agility trials in Farmington. There are a ton of dogs who bark while they're running the course because they're so amped up. They make the funniest noises sometimes-especially running through the weaves. So, while I think working on the barking is a good thing-I wouldn't become a stress basket over it!

  3. Howser doesn't necessary bark at 3 in morning for random reasons. He barks when it is dark outside and he is leashed to something. If I could put his barks to words I swear he would be saying: "Mom? Mom?! Its dark out here. Mom? I'm tied up and its dark. Its time to come inside right? Mom? Anybody? There are strange noises that I know that will come and eat me! Mom?!" Oddly enough if he is outside in his box or if his box is open close enough for him to get in he doesn't bark. Oh, we have to love our dogs :)
